About Rael

Rael Herman is a Toronto-based business owner, husband and father. He is also an avid cyclist. At the age of 35, in 2004, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. He beat the odds after enduring over a year of treatments which included surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. As part of his recovery, he began to cycle, and to date has raised over $10,000 for cancer research. Rael’s cancer remained in remission for over 13 years. After a “routine” brain MRI in October 2017, Rael was told that his cancer had returned in the form of glioblastoma, a currently incurable form of brain cancer.

Rael’s Ride is a rallying cry to show our support and determination to beat this aggressive disease by raising funds for Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to find better treatments. This event was organized by a group of Rael’s friends, family and cycling buddies. Our goal is to raise $50,000 for brain cancer research. We hope you will join us and support this worthy cause!
